Translation notes: First, Hakone (pronounced ha-ko-nay) is a city in Japan, near Mt. Fuji. Second, the popular Japanese expression "yappari" is notoriously difficult to translate, and depends entirely on the context. Given different contexts, the Japanese could be alternatively translated as: That's the Hakone I know and love or I know what we should do; let's go to Hakone or You'd only be able to have this kind of experience in Hakone
But that's by no means an exhaustive list. And the last "ka na" makes the whole statement "softer", more tentative (in some contexts, it could even imply a wistfulness). |
