That idea applies to an "if clause", but this is not one.

Lily, you turned "..gives everything for you" into "gives everything to you", but this doesn't convey the correct meaning, I guess. (Or, am I wrong? )
"Giving all his/her -for example- possessions away for somebody" is meant to say there.
