what does στο βομό του correspond to in English? I didn't find it in the dictionary at all. Is "πεθανε στο βωμο του" a phrase on its own?

you can't find it this way. the phrase "in the line of duty" literally is : "στη γραμμή του καθήκοντος¨ in greek. However in greek we dont say it in that way. the phrase is : στο βωμό του καθήκοντος" and it has the same meaning. Βωμός is the the place where people used ti sacrifice things...i think that we call it an altar
