'ga met God' Lijkt me een beetje een vreemde manier om mezelf uit te drukken.. Als het een gelukwens is dan hoef je het niet letterlijk te vertalen..

Voor ons is het vreemd. Maar vergelijk het nu eens met het Engels: "God bless you" wordt dagelijks gebruikt, maar in Nederland zou "God zegene je" alleen gezegd worden door religieuze personen. "Vaya con Dios" is vergelijkbaat met "Het ga je goed". Maar zoals bij jou met 'ga slaap' zou ik zeggen dat het een welterusten-groet is.

"duerma te" doesn't mean anything in Spanish. It should probably be "duerma bien" (sleep well)

"Vaya con Dios" is an expression used to say goodbye, like "take care" "see you" etc.

Hmm.. according to her the translation means something like 'go with God and sleep..' but I guess you're right that this translation isn't well enough. Hmm it's funny to see how different I would judge translations now from 2 years ago.. I'll have a look at it later today am in a hurry now
