Title
oysa bilmediÄŸin bir ÅŸey var sevgilim
Source language: Turkish

Ölü bir yılan gibi yatıyordu aramızda

Yorgun, kirli ve umutsuz geçmişim,

Oysa bilmediÄŸin bir ÅŸey var sevgilim,

Ben sende bütün aşklarımı temize çektim.

Title
But there's something you don't know my love
Translation
English

Translated by peabody
Target language: English

My tired, dirty and hopeless past

Was lying between us like a dead snake

But there's something you don't know my love,

I redeemed from my former loves through you.

Hi peabody,

There's just one verb which sounds weird: "cleaned". What do you mean by that?

Hi Turkish experts,
Could you check that "I cleaned all my loves for you."
It doesn't make sense to me

Literally, it means "I made a clean/fair copy of all my previous loves with you". It may mean "I forgot/overcome all my previous loves with you".

What about: "You made me forget all my former loves" or " I forgot all my former loves because of you"?
Does any of them convey the original?

Yes, I think both of them do.

"temize çektim" is not "make me forget"

Hi aydin,

Sometimes we have to use different words or a more common expression in order to sound natural in English (as long as the meaning doesn't change, of course).
Do you think that choice does not convey the meaning of the original?

It is for me;

It was lying between us like a dead snake,
my tired, dirty and hopeless past.

But there's something you don't know my love,
You made me forget all my former loves.

temize çekmek-> to engross, to transcribe clearly and correctly.

Lit: I transcribed clearly on you all my former loves->(mean.)With you I correct (remedy) the mistakes I made/the bad experiences I had with my former loves, or something like that...

Hum...perhaps:

"I redeemed from my former loves through you"

Perhaps "clean slate" can be used. It conveys the literal Turkish "clean" while meaning to make a new copy free of mistakes.

I agree with Lilian's suggestion, I think "I redeemed from my former loves through you" is the closest possible.

Hi Aydin,

Do you mean "I wiped the slate clean for you (because of you)"?
