From Mendelssohn's correspondence with his sister Fanny, apparently the piece was primarily written for her wedding. Because of his accident in England he couldn't come to her wedding and according to Fanny's words she had never received the piece. For the planned publication of organ works, Mendelssohn composed the middle part with the choral evidently again, like he wrote in the letter to his sister on the 25th of July, 1844.

Perhaps you should mention Mrs. Hensel's family name in the English text too?

This text is difficult to translate, but "Hensel den Satz", <Hensel> is definitely a name and Satz is not "sentence", probably <composition> since this is what the paragraph is mainly about.<komponierte Mendelssohn den Mittelteil mit dem Choral offensichtlich neu>, means that Mendelsssohn apparently composed the middle portion (or part) of the choral anew, although there are several ways of translating offensichtlich.
