[The two old people saw this strange sight] with amazement and fear, and with upturned hands they both uttered a prayer, Baucis and the trembling old Philemon, and they craved indulgence for their fare and meagre entertainment. But the goose was swift of wing, and quite wore the slow old people out in their efforts to catch him.
