Actually there is a difference.
If the original says "the", it should be kept. It means that they are talking about a specific picture.

NPazarka..It is not "a picture of her friends" because it is obvious that "the two of them" know what picture they are talking about..Please, review English grammar on definite and indefinite articles..Thanks.
