подписаться на твиты is wrong translation. We do not add words that we know about but are not in the original.

подписаться на твиты would mean subscribe to tweets.

"go following" would mean "иди следуй". No sense.
So we can't translate this literally into Russian. Though we can convey the meaning using other words.

Downshifter did a great job actually. I only changed her translation to "Почитай" because the official Twitter FAQ in Russian uses it for the "Follow".

As you can see Twitter translators also used another word, as "to follow" can not be translated as "to read" generally.
