This is ancient French, from a renaissance song. I haven't been able to find a translation on the Net. British English preferred.

I believe this translation is agreed upon, so I enter it myself. It has also been approved by a specialist in renaissance music, Egidius Kwartet.

I added translation of the line from the song that I forgot to write in the request:
Trouvay Michault sur l'erbette,
which translates into
I found Michault on the grass
