In the West the past is like a dead animal. It is a carcass picked at by the flies that call themselves historians and biographers. But in my culture the past lives.

Le passé
Translation
French

Translated by tristangun
Target language: French

À l'Occident, le passé est comme un animal mort.
C'est une carcasse, mangée par les mouches qui s'appellent eux-mêmes des historiens ou biographes.
Mais dans ma culture, le passé vit.

Can someone help me with this one?

She says who call themselves historiens and biographers. I don't think biographer fits in the meaning of the text, though.
Shouldn't it be biologist?

Re Tristangun. Je dirai comme ceci: "par des mouches qui s'appellent eux-mêmes historiens ou biographes".
Dernière phrase, je dirai : " Mais dans ma culture le passé vit".

Qu'en penses- tu ?

No, biographers is correct!
You let yourself be fooled by the analogy in the text. The thing that is being picked apart is LIKE a dead animal - but it is in fact the past!
And the people who are picking the past apart call themselves historians and biographers!

Haha, I didn't let myself be fooled by the analogy of the text, the choice for biologist has nothing to do with dead animals, instead biologist are people who examine evolution, etc. which is also a part of history.

Ok, she didn't make a fault, but still I think it is weird =)

Ah et Gamine, tu es correcte! C'est le passé vit, c'est une fault stupide de moi =D
Je l'ai changé.
