Thanks a lot!
CC: FIGEN KIRCI | | | 1 travanj 2009 12:21 | | | hi, Francky! it's okay, but perhaps, I should explain the second sentence.
actually, this one simply means 'tell me your name', but in turkish, when we ask something much politely, we have a problem like this (in the translation).
however, 'may I have your name?' isn't wrong expression, methinks (and I do not understand why the requestor rejected the translation).
maybe, we can use 'may I know your name, please?'.
so, in stead of rejection, it'd be better to edit the secon sentence in the translation. what do you think, dear Francky? | | | 22 travanj 2009 01:38 | | | Hi Figen and Franck,
Sorry to poke my nose into your business, but I think "May I learn your name?" would be better. | | | 22 travanj 2009 02:15 | | | hi, handyy!
you're right, this is the literal meaning, but I thought, in english would be better to use 'know' in stead of 'learn' (and, the request is meaning only).
but, you are the expert, so go on! | | | 23 travanj 2009 17:26 | | | Oh please, I am an expert just like you! |
