Or "He is a junkie dude, he's smoking hashish."

The author should indicate the gender of the person who has been mentioned in the text.

"Dude" points the person who author's talking to, it's not the person who has been mentioned in the text. So we can't say anything about that person's gender, mentioned in the text.
Also the text is written in daily speaking language so "dude" would be properer than "blood brother" in use. Both gives the same meaning though.

Dear Framrasel,
"dude" means "friend" not "blood brother". As you know "to be blood brother" has an another meaning.
if you want to use "dude"...>
"She's junkie, dude" is better.

merdogan, the word bloodbrother isn't appropriate in English for how it's used in Turkish.. In Turkish it just means 'mate' as far as I know (which in English then does refer to a male, but i've also only heard boys using kanka..)

dear Chantal,
As I know there is a word for bloodbrother in English and it is "sworn".

sworn? I don't think so.. it's only the past participle of swear? Where did you get this from?

Anyway, I still think that 'mate' should be used here, merdogan am I right that 'kanka' is usually used between boys? Would you say 'kanka' to a girl?

dear Chantal,

Can it be "sworn brothers" ?
Yes you are right ,'kanka= KAN KArdeÅŸi' is usually used between boys. We say "blood brothers". As you know "brother" is a boy.

You could say sworn brothers, but it doesn't sound like something you'd use every day (so not like kanka is used). Therefore I think dude or mate is better..

Chantal, you can call a girl as "kanka" even if it's more common between boys. It's about the good manners but that's something else.
Merdogan, I agree with Chantal. Mate or dude would be better in use.

Maybe a comma after "junkie" would be fine, this way one can see "dude" is about the addressee.

You know these little punctuations were not issued just to give more work to the one who's typing :

"She's a junkie, dude, she's smoking hashish"

Note : Requester didn't use punctuations, the text should have been submitted in meaning only.
