Detta märker man tydligt på sättet att skriva och hur hon förmedlar miljön. Historien utspelar sig under romantiken, i ett hus i Schweiz en bit utanför staden Ingolstadt. Här kan han arbeta ostört för att hans hus ligger en bit ifrån staden så ingen kommer och stör.
Själva romanen är svår i början eftersom den är skriven i jagform så den blir något svår att komma in i. Men det känns som att han själv berättar vad som hände vilket gör den bättre.Några ord man kan koppla till miljön är:

"hon" in the first is "she" (must be the writer). "han" in the rest of the text is correct as "he" (must be the person she writes about)
