Останні повідомлення | | | | | 22 Серпня 2013 18:30 | | | Hi Lein,
I tnink all the words should be put in the nominative, so:
pacem --> pax
Do you agree? | | | 23 Серпня 2013 00:13 | | | Yes! It sounds much better, and I think it "agrees" more! Thank you! | | | 23 Серпня 2013 11:11 | | LeinКількість повідомлень: 3389 | Hi Aneta,
I'm sure you know best
And of course, either all of them should be in the nominative, or all accusative
(My reasoning, which does not excuse inconsistency of course, was 'in x propositum', so x should be accusative.) | | | 23 Серпня 2013 11:19 | | | Hi dear Lein,
Nice to see you here!
You know, "propositum" is also in nominative here.
I believe that Latin construction is just different than Potrtuguese in this case. Have a look:
- tudo tem um propósito = everything has a purpose (just my guessing)
- in omnibus propositum = there is a purpose in all things
Am I right? | | | 23 Серпня 2013 11:24 | | | 'in x propositum'
x should be ABLATIVE and it is. | | | 23 Серпня 2013 11:25 | | LeinКількість повідомлень: 3389 | Good to see you too!
Yes, that's right - is there a problem with the sentence or the translation? I'm not sure I understand what you are suggesting I change... (Feel free to change it yourself if that is easier!) | | | 23 Серпня 2013 11:32 | | | It's perfect now, Lein.
I just wanted to say that in the Latin construction all the nouns require nominative: Amor, fides, pax and propositum!
In the Portugese construction "um propósito" probably is accusative. Right?
| | | 23 Серпня 2013 11:49 | | | You could also put the three first nouns in ablative (but not accusative):
"Amore, fide, pace, in omnibus propositum:.
(second option) |
