Title
Text
Submitted by Baobab

Title
Introduction [to a] documentary about fishing with ‘lampara’ in Istria
Translation
English

Translated by Lev van Pelt
Target language: English

‘Lampara’ fishing is based on the use of a light source to attract and capture with the nets whole shoals of fish. In its daily and tiring repetition of gestures, actions and tasks, it requires a careful organization and coordination between the members of the crew; as much in the capturing stage as in the selection of sizes and preservation of the fish. A series of processes that follows its own precise ritual.
‘Nightlight’ is an exploration of a day's work of fishing on board of a ‘lampara’ boat in the Istrian sea.
Remarks about the translation
--“demanding” is also adequate for “faticosa”, if you want to maintain your word; but it carries a slight different meaning (that of “esigente”).
--You may use “accurate” or “careful” according to your preference; but "careful" conveys better the original sense.
--I have substituted “both” because there are not two references, but three.
--“Istrian sea” or “the sea of Istria”

No expert in English can validate this one?, or start a poll for it?... (Perhaps you, Lein?)

It's getting old already, and maybe it has been overlooked
