It's a muslim religious anniversary.. so it celebrated all over the muslim world. There are several in a year.

Kandel sounds like Candel in english and Qandeel in arabic, which is an oil lamp, so i understand that its a turkish tradition to use it in islamic celebrations, i will accept the word Kandel to mean "celebration" in Arabic, because i live (used to) in jordan and i sure never heard of some of these celebrations

Perhaps celebration isnt the right word, commerate might be better.
I don't know if Kandil is arabic in origin or wholely a turkish word. the anniversaries exist throughout the muslim world though
if you follow the link i provided above, you're sure to recognise them.

yes i did follow the link, i did recognize some of them but not all, and some of them has so many different occasions like 3ashoora, we fast this day because the Prophet said its a good thing to fast it (most probably it has to do with Adam, Noah and Mosus) but not Hussain his grandson, because he was dead when his grandson died...
the one you call REGAIP KANDILI, we never celebrated that day, not that i recall
BERAT KANDILI: dont know what that is
MIRAÇ KANDILI i think is Esraa and Mi'raj (sounds like it) but you will be shocked to know that the date is guessed, nobody knows for sure... anyway, most of these celebrations are not recognized by islamic parties (like islamicfinder.com) because they are all made up, in other words Prophet Mohammed never celebrated his birthday, nor any of his friends for a long time, until somebody made up this celebration... its against the soul of islam, i just thought its worth mentioning
commemorate is the word i agree
