Source language: Irish

’Sí do mhaimeo í, ’sí do mhaimeo í
’Sí do mhaimeo í, cailleach an airgid
’Sí do mhaimeo í, ó Bhaile Inis Mhóir í
’S chuirfeadh sí cóistí ar bhóithre Cois Fharraige

Dá bhfeicfeá’ an "steam" ’ghabhail siar Tóin Uí Loin’
’S na rothaí ’ghabhail timpeall siar ó na ceathrúnaí
Chaithfeadh sí ’n stiúir naoi n-vair’ ar a cúl
’S ní choinneodh sí siúl le cailleach an airgid

Sí do mhaimeo í, ’sí do mhaimeo í...

Measann tú, ’bpósfa’, ’measann tú ’bpósfa’
’Measann tú, ’bpósfa’, cailleach an airgid?
Tá’s a’m nach ’bpósfa’, tá’s a’m nach ’bpósfa’
Mar tá sé ró-óg ’gus d’ólfadh sé’n t-airgead ’

Sí do mhaimeo í, ’sí do mhaimeo í...

Sí do mhaimeo í, ’sí do mhaimeo í...

’S gairid go ’bpósfaidh, ’s gairid go ’bpósfaidh
’S gairid go ’bpósfaidh, beirt ar an mbaile seo
’S gairid go ’bpósfaidh, ’s gairid go ’bpósfaidh
Séan Shéamais Mhóir agus Máire Ní Chathasaigh

Sí do mhaimeo í, ’sí do mhaimeo í...

Title
It's your granny
Translation
English

Translated by Dewan
Target language: English

It's your Granny, It's your Granny
It's your Granny, the widow with the money
It's your Granny, She' from the town of Inismore
And she would put coaches on the roads of Cois Fharraige

If you saw the steam (train) going west to Tóin Uí Loin
And the wheels going round west from the Ceathrúnaí (the districts)
She would throw the woman 9 times on her back
And she wouldn't keep walking with the widow of the money

Do you think you'll marry? Do you think you'll marry?

Do you think you'll marry? widow of the money
I know you won't marry, I know you won't marry
Because he's too young and would drink the money

They'll marry soon, they'll marry soon
They marry soon a couple from this town
They'll marry soon, they'll marry soon
Big John Seamus and Máire Casey

Remarks about the translation
This is an old West of Ireland ballad which is sung VERY quickly!!

There's no word chorus (in Irish: curfá) in the text and it's missing a few repetitions. :/

Dewan, it seems that the number of lines does not match the original. Could you please, check your translation once more?
I've removed the word "chorus" which does not appear in the original.
