Encantas a existência minha, doce fada;

“Conta a ela, poeta, aquele teu segredo,

Dir-te-ei, ó menina, a frase que me resta,
Para declarar-me de um modo que se presta:
És minha namorada, e tu não o sabes!

DEFINITIONS

At every moment you are my disquietude
it blazes like flame because you are its wood.
Gorgeous, you scent meadows, flower of youth,
and the sweet fragrance is all I have from you.

You bewitch my existence, gentle fairy;
you rule my thoughts, beautiful princess.
What else could I reveal? Nothing else!
the words, themselves, don’t carry so much sincerity.

“Tell her, poet, that secret of yours,
that one you are so afraid of revealing,
perhaps she judges you fit in her heart!”

I shall tell you, o girl, the phrase that is left
to declare myself in an appropriate manner:
You are my beloved, and you don’t know it!
