This sentence is very value. It isn't a Turkish saying/proverb. The original sentence coming from Arabic. The Prophet Muhammad's Saying. I'm etymologizing.

If you don't mind, maybe it could be in this less literal way:

The person, who speaks one language, is worth one person,
The person, who speaks two languages, is worth two people etc.

Can I rewrite my Translation Request? I have a little mistake.

Fikomix le Sunnybebek cümlenin orjinalini değiştirdi. Kulaktan kulağa mı oynuyoruz Bu bir Hadis-i Şerif orjinalini değiştiremezsiniz lütfen arkadaşlar. Herkes de onaylanan yanlış çeviriye göre yazdı. Bindik bi alamete... nasıl düzelteceğiz bunu şimdi

Sorry kendin_ol_19, you could have changed the text before any translations having been done, but there are 5 translations already accepted and 2 being evaluated.
I've just cancelled the requests that hadn't still been done so that you will not waste your points or the translators their time.
If you want a different wording you'll have to submit a new request, OK?

I must say this is a real mess. So there would be two proverbs that are different. I've been explained the one that is matching all versions but the Turkish one, at the link I posted above (7 Septembre 2009 16:43 ). And this version really makes sense to me, while the one where it is said "three languages is worth three persons" sounds awkward to me.

We won't edit all the versions, but instead of the original text we'll put a translation into Turkish from these versions ( "A man who speaks a language is a man, a man who speaks two languages is worth two men, a man who speaks three is worth all mankind."

Then kendin_ol_19 will be refund the points and will submit his text to translation.Correctly typed this time, uh?

This will avoid the mess we would have to edit all versions, and so besides one another there will be two slightly different proverbs, the African one and the Arabic one.

Could any Turkish expert perform this task (translating from English into Turkish)?

Thanks a lot!

Merhaba kendin_ol_19
Senin bahsetiğin Hadis-i Şerif şöyle diyor:
"Bir dil bilen bir insan, iki dil bilen iki insandır...",(this is Turkish version)

(translating from English into Turkish)
Burada beni ve Sunnybebek'i suçlama hakkın yok, çünkü biz sadece kendi düşüncemizi açıkladık ve biz Hadis-i Şerif i değiştirmedik ama sen değiştirmişsin. Bir de metin tercüme edildikten sonra, taleb ettiğin metini değiştiriyorsun.

Thanks so much for your help, fikomix!

Unfortunately, we're having another kind of technical problem that can't be solved : The server tells me size of the Turkish text (the one suggested by fikomix above) is too big, and must not exceed 88 characters.

So what i'm going to do is :

- Reject all translations with a high rating and post a fair retribution to all translators involved for the value of the translation.

- Remove this request.

As there is no other possible solution for this kind of technical problem, I tried many times to force the server to accept this edit and couldn't succeed.

Sorry, thanks to those who helped on this issue.

Edit : Actually there was one I found out while doing what I told above, because after I rejected all translations, I saw I could edit the original text with "Bir dil bilen bir insan,
iki dil bilen iki insan deÄŸerinde,
üç dil bilen bütün insanlıktır."

So I reset all translations to evaluation, so please experts in the target-languages could you validate (or not if the trans doesn't match the original text) these translations?

Sorry for the inconvenience, but -believe me- I did the best I could to solve this issue!

Thanks a lot!

Madem benim de hatam var o zaman: ''Bir dilen bir insan, iki dil bilen iki insandır...'' olsun orjinal cümle. Metni hatırladığım kadarıyla yazdım orjinalini araştırdığımı söylemiştim. Ben bu hızla yayılan yanlışlığın yükümlülüğünü kaldıramam.

It's has been adapted to match the translation. Deleting it would be a pity since the proverb does exist (which has already been proved, at least for the French version). Don't worry about it anymore. Regards.

Iserb is right. Then removing the translations wouldn't be fair to translators.

But do not worry kendin_ol_19, you will be refund this translation requests (88 x 8 = 704 points)
