Early in the morning. It's dark yet, winter has been long. My friend told me she sleeps restlessly, and I also experience the same now. The night is long without sleep. My son's family is on a trip abroad. They have sent few text messages, because we have a poor relationship. I have had arguments with my daughter-in-law. "As far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone", why am I not able to?

Jos "I have argued" tarkoittaa "minulla oli riitaa", niin tuntuisi olevan hivenen eri asia kuin riitautuminen, joka ilmaisee mielestäni pitkäkestoista riitatilannetta eikä siis vain yhtä riitaa. Ihan pikku juttu siis vain, muuten näyttää hyvältä.

Thanks mikalaari!

The way this site works is by having people who speak English fluently as English 'experts'. We make sure the text is grammatically correct and makes sense in English, but we don't speak all other languages on this site and unfortunately I don't speak Finnish.
Could you explain your point in English please?

Kleppi, could you let me know if you agree with mikalaari please?

Thanks both!

I totally aggree with Mikalaari.

He pointed out that Finnish sentence "olemme riitautuneet" means a longer-lating conflict situation than just "I have argued".

I couldn't come up with an exact translation in English preserving the succinctness, but maybe "I have had arguments" would better emphasize the long-lastingness of the situation.

Keep up the good work, both mikalaari and Lein.

Thanks for the explanation kleppi
I have changed it and added a not; does that convey the meaning?

Yes, to my understanding it is now precise enough to convey the meaning.
