Or Germany is probably the country in Europe with most public holidays, why does Norway have so many? The official state church is solid, strongly connected with the public authorities, even if these connections are weaker nowadays, because they have currently been founded on a red-green coalition and not on believing members of the government/ members of the cabinet.

Hi Pia,

Just a few corrections:

Or Germany is probably the country in Europe with most public holidays, why does Norway have so many? The official (state?) church is solid, strongly connected with the public authorities, even if these, have currently been founded on a red-green coalition and not on believing members/ members of the cabinet (government?)

What do you think?

Looking good!
Thanks a lot Lilian, I've corrected!

You are right, it's about the "state church". I saw, I've missed to translate "ikke troende medlemmer av regjering" (sorry!) ...so I think the last sentence would be: "and not on believing members of the government/ members of the cabinet.

Or if "members of the cabinet" sounds weird, just: "cabinet ministers"

The translation doesn't really make sense to me and a part has been omitted, leading to loss of meaning. this would be my translation:
"If Germany is generally considered to be the country in Europe with most public holidays, then why does Norway have so many? The official church stays strong, having strong connections to the public authorities, although these connections are weaker nowadays, due to a red-green coalition government and the presence of nonbelievers among the members of the government/cabinet."

You are right, one part is missing. Btw. I like your version!

Lilian, may I edit --->"even if these connections are weaker nowadays, because they have currently been founded on a red-green coalition ..."

I think the source-text is taken out of context, and therefore it is difficult to see if the translation is precise.. On the other hand, it is "meaning only"... I vouch for it..
