I didn't want to reply to you in writing, I wanted to talk to you face to face at your arrival. I understand you, I am wrong, but they have extensively magnified things, and nothing is as you think. You have not left me to myself, I've requested you this explicitely. You were very special to me, I have loved you very much, but it was you in the first place who has also ended this love. I know very well what my mistake is and I recognize that. Whatever you think of me, you are still very special to me.

Hi jollyo,

I have two changes to make;

"I know very well what my mistake is"

"Whatever you think of me, you are still very special to me."

I'd also use "that" instead of "this"

What do you think?

The only thing I do not follow is your suggestion of changing:

you will always be ...
into
you are still ...

tu es toujours: you are always... ??

Can you explain?

The other two are good changes. Thank you.
(the first one must have been a typo, 'cause I know this is the right sequence...)
So far adapted.

"toujours" may have several meanings, it's not always "always".
It may be 'still', 'yet', 'never cease', etc

And I think in this text what it means is "still". That's what makes sense, don't you think?
Read the whole text again and tell me if it doesn't sound better.

I agree with Lilian the last sentence is :
tu es toujours (encore) très spéciale pour moi.
you are still very special to me.

In French the meaning of "you will always be very special to me." is "tu seras toujours très spéciale pour moi"

Hi Turkishmiss,
I am aware that the future tense in the last sentence is not actually written in French.
In English future tense is used more often than in French, whenever there is something mentioned that points to the future.

Anyway... Lilian, I think both translations work:
'you will always be very special' has to me the intention to say that whatever happened, or whatever you think of me, whatever choice we make 'you will always be etc.

If you still feel it should be 'you are still very special...' it's okay with me.
Tell me what your opinion is Lilian and I will edit if needed.

Jollyo, I also think "toujours" means "still" in this text.

"Toujours" is a synonym for "encore" and I think Miss explained very well why it couldn't be "always" or "forever"

I would say it this way:

I am wrong, but they have extensively magnified things, and nothing is as you think. ==> I am at fault, but they have exaggerated so much that nothing is as you think.
