The Mont Blanc Tunnel is in the Alps between France and Italy. A Belgian truck caught fire, burned for 56 hours and reached temperatures of 1,000 celsius. It trapped the vehicles in dense and poisonous smoke. 27 people died in their vehicles. 10 people died while they were trying to escape on foot.
