tekstur at umseta

@Baobab:

At first sight, "Nightlight" looks like an spurious word in this text.
Would you please explain or justify its occurrence?

Thanks!

Hello, thanks for your interest in the translation. "Nightlight" is the film title. It was not my idea but I guess there is a little bit of creative in it.

Anyway, if can be useful, my translation is this:

"The lampara fishing is a method based on the use of a source of light to attract and capture whole shoals of fish. In its daily and demanding repetition of gestures, actions and tasks, it requires an accurate organization and coordination between the crew members, both in the capturing stage and in the size selection and preservation of the fish. A series of processes with its own precise rituals. 'Nightlight' is an exploration of a day's work on a lampara boat in the Istrian sea.

Thanks!

OK I see it now. I missed the quotation marks.

As a matter of fact, your translation is already good; I would say very good were it not for a few minor flaws and one clear omission in the first sentence.
I'll provide you with a revised option in half an hour or so (and then we can comment it and find, if necessary, any possible improvement).

Best Regards!

I forgot to add that I've had a look at your blog about Ethnographic documentaries and film-making, and found it truly interesting.

Thank you so much! :-) On my blog I am trying to give in Italian some information and materials about visual anthropology. In my opinion a very interesting subject that, unfortunately, in my country is not deeply studied by many scholars. I have read your translation and notes. I agree with all, particularly with the substitution of “both”. I hadn't noticed it! Thanks!
