I want you to come back home! I understand why you want to talk to me on the phone, but this will cost you too much. Because you will be making an international call. Besides, I even had difficulty in understanding you when you talked to me through the microphone. If we talk on the phone, I will probably not understand you. Because you have your very own way of speaking English. In fact, I've made progress in speaking English, thanks to you. Maybe you noticed, I'm much better than before...

Handyy can you help me out here?

ama bu sana çok pahalıya mal olur - is translated as 'but you may have to pay for this.'. Doesn't it mean 'but it will be extremely expensive for you' ? I'm not sure about the -ya mal olur..

Farkındaysan, öncekinden daha iyiyim. - does it mean that the person is feeling better or does it mean in this context that his/her English has improved?

thnx

''You have to pay for this'' means ''bunun sonucuna katlanmalısın'' or in other words'' -ya mal olur''. The sentence you mentioned in your message about being expensive can be translated as '' it will cost you much/a lot'' And for your last question, the sentence was formed according to the text so the speaker can understand what it means in this text..But its meaning depends on how you want to evaluate it..

Thanks nurgulhoca, I'm a little confused about the first part: so can or can't it be translated with 'it will cost you a lot' instead of 'but you have to pay for this' ? Because it says 'cok pahali' I'd suggest that 'very expensive, or cost you a lot' should be added?

The second one is ok in this way then.. can you please correct the first one then I'll evaluate it .

Yes,the second one is more appropriate,if there's something connected to monetary issues. But you don't have to say'very expensive'for this.

sanırım şöyle ifade daha doğru:
"...I understand your reason to talk to me on the phone, but this will cost you too much. Because you will be making an international call. Besides, I even had difficulty in understanding you when you talked to me through microphone....In fact, I've made a progress in English, thanks to you..."

Thnx londra! You had quite some good corrections

Merdogan: come back home is ok here, it has the same meaning, come back to your home is the literal translation but not very proper English..

I understand your reason to talk to me on the phone....> I understand you want to talk to me on the phone

I understand why you want to talk to me on the phone or your reason.. actually they have the same meaning but 'why you want to talk' is closer to the text...
