Im zweiten Teil fühlt sich Elias durch den erneuten Konflikt mit Ahab und seiner Frau bedroht und flieht in die Wüste. Mendelssohn gestaltet diesen Teil mit sehr dramatischen Choreinwürfen. Die dreiteilige Arie "Es ist genug", mit der Elias seine Resignation zum Ausdruck bringt, zeigt Parallelen zu der Arie "Es ist vollbracht" aus Bach"s Johannespassion. Der Komponist lässt der Musik sehr viel Raum als er den 40-tägigen Weg Elias" durch die Wüste zum Berg Horeb schildert.
In the second part Elias feels threatened because of the renewed conflict with Ahab and his wife and that´s why he migrates to the desert. Mendelssohn forms this part by the dramatic chorus moment. The 3-partial aria "It's enough", by which Elias expresses his resignation, draws parallels to the aria "It's done" from Bach's "John's passions". The composer leaves to the music much space as he describes the 40-day way of Elias through the desert to Horeb hill.
