Traduko - Franca-Angla - l'égoisme et la haine ont seuls une ...

J'ai bien peur que tu aies traduit avec un contresens, et j'ai par ailleurs demandé à repone s'il n'est pas possible de rectifier le texte-source en plaçant "seuls" en début de phrase.

Car de la façon dont tu as traduit, on peut comprendre "l'égoïsme et la haine ont une seule patrie", alors que ce n'est pas le propos; mais ce contresens est dû en grande partie à la façon dont "seuls" est placé dans le texte original.

Donc la traduction anglaise serait :

"Only selfishness and hate have a homeland, brotherhood hasn't got any."

Selfisness and hate have only one fatherland........
"fraternity does not have it".

Ben non, justement, Lene, j'étais en train d'expliquer à jedi2000 en quoi il avait fait un contresens, et j'ai également envoyé un message privé à repone pour lui notifier que la façon dont il a tourné le texte original pouvait être source de confusion.
La preuve en est que tu as traduit "l'égoïsme et la haine n'ont qu'une seule patrie...".

Ce que repone a voulu exprimer, c'est que "Seuls l'égoïsme et la haine ont une patrie", (en faisant sans doute allusion aux nationalismes, qui ne sont guère enclins à la fraternité avec "les autres"

le natonalisme, la notion de patrie, exclut le plus souvent ceux qui n'en sont pas (de la patrie)

The way words are displaid in the French text is causing some confusion, and that led jedi2000 and Lene to do what we French call "un contresens"

Meaning from this text in English is the one I posted above : "Only selfishness and hate have a homeland, brotherhood hasn't got any."

The word that is not displaid properly in the sentence (that not only sounds odd in Fren,ch because of that, but leads to a misinterpretation of the meanng), is "seuls"

I already sent the requester a PM, asking him whether I could edit the French text with "Seuls, l'égoïsme et la haine ont une patrie...", but he did not answer.

As jedi2000 and Lene translated erroneously because of this word that is not properly placed in the original text.

So as the requester din't reply my message, I think I'll go through his answer and edit the French text, so that this sentence can have its proper meaning.

As when telling "only selfshness and hate have a homeland" (and not brotherhood) the reqsuester was willing to mention the nationalisms, and the notion of "homeland" that don't leave a room to brotherhood outside the borders -or with people getting inside the national territory-

Nothing to do with "selfishness and hate have only one homeland (which one then?)

I had an answer from repone, the requester, and I edited the original text accordingly.

Lilian, you just have to edit the Spanish version with one semi-column instead of the comma (after "patria", and jedi200 has to edit his translation accordingly if he wants to have it validated!

Not only I'm far from "mes classiques", but didn't find obvious the way it was expressed in French (ôôôôh!)

Oh, la la la.Comment veux-tu que on s'en sorte , pauvre de moi et Jedi rien qu'à cause d'un mot mal placé. Devient dure la vie.

N'en rajoute pas, Lene! ... déjà que j'ai honte d'avoir méconnu cette citation de Lamartine, qui, à part l'usage d'un point virgule oublié par repone, était tout ce qu'il y a de plus correcte en français; (on ne peut pas reprocher à un écrivain comme Lamartine de mal écrire, cela serait de l'iconoclasme!) Par contre, comme je le disais à repone en message privé, on peut être déconcerté par la tournure de cette phrase du 19ème, comme je l'ai été, et même jusqu'à en mésentendre le sens, comme cela a été votre cas à jedi et à toi.

Ne me prive pas, pour une fois, de te taquiner un peu, hehe.
