It would be better if there would exist a special separate button for when a bridge is needed. Let's say like "Edit" or "Translate" buttons, which can be called "Bridge request".

Why am I suggesting that? Because of the many problems that appeared during time with these bridges. They are not always very correct, they are not always requested. And it should be a more organized way of doing them.

Yes, it is a good idea, this button would be accessible by power-cucumers, experts, and experts assistants only.
What do you think, JP?

So this button would submit a normal request (into english) but tagged with "bridge" ?

This would be an idea. Or we can have a choice of (main spoken) languages, as for example: English, French, German, Spanish. I don't know what's best, maybe the others have an opinion about that, too.

I did not figure out about the "payment". Maybe a equal split of the points would be a possibility?

I'd like to ponder some points about this matter.

I also support the idea of a button which can be used by experts to require (from experts for the source language or from power-cucumers native speakers of the source language) a bridge for evaluation. That would be part of the expert's job and may provide an indicator of the expert's commitment to the site.

However I think bridges made spontaneously to help other users when required or the system of shared points people usually offer may remain the way it works now. I think these bridges should always be sent to the user's inbox.

Also, experts, may place bridges under the requests for translations that are at polls and get no votes, notifying the expert in charge of the evaluation. That is really helpful for the expert who set the poll, has been waiting for many days, but can't validate or reject the translation for nobody voted on it. Of course that would be a volunteer work experts may perform or not, as they wish.

I hope this will help things to move faster.

Is that difficult to be implemented JP?

Well, unfortunately, I don't agree. My point in suggesting this button was exactly because of the chaotic way in which some of these bridges are sometimes done. I have been long enough on Cucumis to remember several discussions which appeared as a result of different users who were just posting bridges without being asked. In my opinion, I don't believe that some of the members should just be favorized, because of friendship or just because some need to feel grateful. Every single user should have a chance to do the translations in the languages they know well. Besides it happened several times when bridges have been done and other users than the one who requested made the translation.

On the other hand, the idea of the free bridges for the evaluations is very good. But I still sustain the one to have a separate button for bridges in English for languages that are not universal.

IMO those bridges could be requested either because e need it to evaluate a translation or either because there is a pending request for a long time.
Not all members could have the possibility to request a free bridge. This would generate too much request to english.
I think that for a first step, only experts and power cucumers would be able to request a free bridge.
