May 16th the day when Brazilian and Portuguese started speaking the same language.

After 16 years rehearsing, the Portuguese Parliament approved the grammatical unification of the Portuguese language spoken everywhere.
That's good news!

I don't think so jp, there are still too many differences, specially concerning vocabulary.
The pronouns and verb inflection used are also quite different from country to country.
Besides, European Portuguese (like European Spanish) will always be a unique and precious language.

Speaking or writing?
I agree with you Lilly. Unique and precious.

So bad that they will receive the bigger impact with this change. And I agree with Saramago.
This will be a hard change for me, I'm already taking notes. Hehe.

This makes me happy and a bit sad at the same time, hehe.

Thank you for these interesting news, lilian!
You gave me an idea for my blog (and I needed one).

Condolences for all lovers of brazilian and portuguese orthographical traditions.

Congratulations if people in your contries accept this reform.

In France it's impossible...
