Having done some small and some relatively big translations here, I feel that cucumis interface might not be convenient for long jobs, say, ranging from 10 full pages of MS word, or even more.

of course, such jobs will be paid jobs.

I think there should be some option to download big jobs as a file, do them at our convenience, and then upload back here as a file.

The problem will come in locking the job. What if more than one person download and do a job? And if you don't lock, what if the person who downloads the job doesn't meet the deadline?

could members please give some thoughts to it.

If larger jobs can be posted here, we can expect paid-job posters to come here to post their jobs. Then, we can earn.

this is a free site offering free human translations, and I hope it will remain free at all, even for very long jobs.

if I want to submit a 10 pages translation, I need to have thousands of points, and I have thousands of points if I've done lot of translations here. so now it's my right to submit my 10 pages translation, waiting to have it translated for free!!!

the lock matter is a good matter, but I think it's too "dangerous" to allow an user to lock a translation for a day, or for two days. if so, one could lock the translation even if not really interested in translating it, and this would stop other users to do the job themselves.

FINALLY: as no one has submited so a long translation, why are we talking about a 10 pages translation???

If somebody needs a 10 pages translation, I guess a professional service would be better.
A website interface for translating such a big text is not suitable (btw, the size of texts is limited to 3000 english equivalent characters).

As I've already told in this topic I don't mind developing something to help cucumis members to find a paid job but doing paid translations inside the cucumis.org interface is another story . It's hard to develop, hard to manage, and maybe not in the spirit as told luccaro.
