Rating?

How does an expert choose how many points he gives for a translation?

I mean, people might think I am native english because my english rating is better than my real native languages, estonian and dutch.

I think it is funny, because my english sucks and there I got a 8,32/10 and for estonian and dutch I got less than 8/10 =D

Experts are different and their mood is different...

I think I can explain why this illogical situation is so common. I give a 10 to a lot of translations made by non native french speakers who translate very well short sentences easy to traduce.

And the experts often translate difficult texts remaining untranslated. So they may obtain a poor rating (not so poor, we are experts).

In fact, this system of rating is almost useless (it's usefull when an expert has to evaluate a translation using a poll, it helps to evaluate the credibility of the voters). Our "customers" don't choose their translator, and rating has no effect on points assigning (as it seems to me).

It's just our pride who has a pain.

Yep tristangun, that means you translate only when you should. No one should have low ratings on cucumis as we try to have only native (or almost fluent) translators, or people who know that it's easy enough for them.
