Yesterday it was Valborgsmässoafton here in Sweden, it's been celebrated on April 30 every year. In short terms you can say that it's a celebration/welcome to the light and green season and a goodbye to the winter.

I put a link
here to Wikipedia’s article about it. What I like about it is the singing around the bon fires. And here is another link

to a
song, typical for this day. Very often it is performed by a male choir. I guess that every city and town, village in Sweden has their own fire, so it must be a spectacular view to fly across the country this evening. Another typical "thing" is the smell of fires that surround the town .....
There is another side of this day, and not so nice. Many young people take this "weekend" as a debut to drink alcohol (outdoor drinking), it's not a new "tradition" neither, but it's sad that the kids seem to be so young today.
