Today is a special day in the Netherlands: Queens-day. The 30th of April is a celebration and the whole country turns orange, the colour of the royal family. Originally the 30th of April was the birthday of our former queen Juliana. When she died, her daughter Beatrix became queen and as her birthday is in January , in winter time, we keep the 30th of April as date to celebrate her birthday. Everywhere in the country are lots of activities and the queen and her whole family visit a part of Holland and they all join the fun. A real celebration and I think typical Dutch!
