Could you let me know what you think of rollingmaster's suggestions please?

In particular these two lines:

I can not even get her to be mine -> No one filled his shoes yet. (No one loved me except his) is this about a woman or a man?

- I would have given my life to anyone -> I gave my life for everyone (would he have done this or has he done this?)
