I have just recently created a project for Latin quotes. Would you be interested in translating latin quotes into french and english. I'll start with the english translations but I know that I need a native [british] english talking person to correct them. It is quite difficult to make the translation precise from latin.

I know that that occurs, but it is a pity when I write a sincere letter... The others aren't so important... anyhow.

Well "latin expert"... hrrmmm... I have once said that latin is a terrible language, the more I learn, I just understand how little I really know.
But for cucumis purpose I think I know enough. It was about 350 unvalidated translations. Xini seems to have "had it". It is a lot of terrible names that have been translated and some really poor latin translations. Although about 1 out of ten could be considered a proper latin translation.

You might know, or you might not but I am going to China next year for 1 year!
I am staying there in a Chineses hostfamily and I need to write a letter to them to tell about me!
Since my chinese is far from good (just know like 50 characters yet)I can write the letter into english
my chinese lessons will start in September after I've been operated!

Let me introduce myself,
my name is De Bruyne Nathan.
I am 16 years old, and my birthday is on the 5th of November.
I got 2 brothers and 1 sister; their names are Killian, Kellen & Skralan…
Skralan is the youngest. She’s my sister and she’s 13 years old. (her birthday is on the same day as my mom’s)
Killian is 19 and Kellen is 15.
My mom’s name is Baisier Christel and her profession is a nursery teacher.
My father’s name is De Bruyne Hendrik and he’s a worker at ‘Pluma’, it’s a big company where they make ‘charcuterie’.
I also got a few hobbies; Computer, Football, Snowboarding and Hanging out with my friends.
I often go at the computer for chatting with my friends, and somethimes I play games.
I also like playing football, I live nearby a footballfield, so during holiday you often find me there!
Snowboarding is also a hobby of mine, I just love snowboarding.
I snowboard since 4 years, and every year I go to France to snowboard for 1 week and once in a few months I go to an indoor ‘piste’, to practise and just enjoy myself!
I am a social boy, so I love to hang out with my friends! Every Friday I go to a public place where I meet my friends, and make new one’s!

If I have to define myself in 3 words, then it would be:
Social, Humoristic and Curious.
Social: I love talking and making new friends, one big advantage is speaking many languages! The more languages you can speak, the more people to talk with! At the moment I study 5 languages at school and I speak estonian/lithuanian.
Humoristic: Don’t ask me to tell any jokes, because I am not good at it! But just the way I am, I know how to make people laugh.
Curious: I am someone who wants to know what is happening in the World, and what has happend in the past!
I watch the news every day, and I try to read the newspaper as much as possible!
I also like history.

Maybe you want to know why I chose China to study?
Well, I already knew for a long time I wanted to go to a foreign country for 1 year, after I’ve graduated..
I always wanted to hike in Australia, until my English teacher told me you could redo your senior year in a foreign country. Since then I wanted to go to China!
Since I was at the age of 10, my dream was to study Chinese at university!
I said I would study ‘sinology’ at university.
The school subjects I like are History, Languages, Economics and Geography and I am also very interested in foreign cultures.
So Sinology would be a good choice.
And 1 year China would give me a good base of Chinese language and culture!

I was wondering if you know of any forum where I could translate sample documents (e.g. newspaper articles, business documents, etc) and get constructive feedback. It would be great to have a group like that. I'm "competent" in Italian, but I'm trying to take it to the next level and I think translation is a great way to achieve this (since i'm not studying it or living in the country).
