I'm looking for a study on latitude.
Nota acerca de la traducción
what interests me above all is the preposition "on", how to translate it?
I would like it to be something like the "études" by Pierre Schaeffer:
Étude aux chemins de fer
Étude aux tourniquets
Étude aux casseroles
...

thanks,
Xini

Je recherche une étude sur la latitude.

Nota acerca de la traducción

I don't really understand what you mean about Pierre Schaeffer.
"étude aux chemins de fer " -----> "aux" is almost server used . In fact the meaning is not exactly the same.

"études sur les chemins de fer" means that it is a rapport about the railway.

If you say "études aux chemins de fer" you can use it for art (music or drawing) it means more something like you are trying something with (the sound of) the railway. Or if you draw, that you are sketching or testing something with the train.

So "je recherche une étude SUR la latitude" means that you are looking for a study about latitude.

Hello, thanks for all your comments.

I would like to have a more Art-related translation,

It's actually a title for music.

It should look like "Playing with latitude".

Could you suggest something like that?

Does it sound silly?

well I see.
So let's think about it...

It can be still "Etude sur la latitude" or "Etude autour de la latitude" what means that you are making an musical exercise around the theme of latitude.

If you wanna play with musical word, it can also be "prélude à la latitude" or "prélude sur la latitude"

Or maybe also "variation sur la latitude" In music variations are the small variations you are doing around the main theme. So it can work. It is like if you are doing small variations around the latitude.

Can I just ask what kind music you're playing? (I guess Pierre Schaeffer is one of your reference? )

It's actually the title for a piece of electroacoustic music
Étude sur la latitude looks fine then, I guess.
