They contribute to the rise in price of the basic commodities. Last year, the USA “burned” 138 million tons of corn to make bioethanol. A tank of 50 liters of bioethanol uses 350 kg of corn that would allow a Mexican or Zambian child to live for one year.

Hi Lein,

I think the last sentence should be "A tank of 50 liters of bioethanol uses 350 kg of corn, which would make a Mexican or Zambian child live for another one year.

What do you think?

Hey Mesud2991,

I agree for the +another, it sounds much smoother.

Now I am even thinking about ".. for another year." (-one).
However that seems less 'powerful'; it's got less emphasis on the 1 year I mean.

'Another one year' doesn't sound right in English. 'Another year' would be an option but because I think the meaning doesn't actually change, I will leave this as it is.

Not "make" - "allow"! I edited it.
