Don't let...

from the first phrase should carry over to the second phrase as well, and the second should therefore mean

(Don't let) other people's malice break your mornings?

This would indeed seem to make even more sense than the way it is translated now...

yes the "don't let" refers to the second phrase as well but it isn't written again
