The moving 2008

13 March 2008
Hey!
Cucumis has just moved to a new server. We have reached 15 000 visitors yesterday, wow...

Hotmail users, if you don't receive our email notifications anymore, use the "Change email" feature (from your profile page).

This post is the opportunity to thank again the amazing community of cucumis.org. The quality of the translation is improving days after days. More than 100 experts now are proofreading the translations, wow.

Danish brute It's also important to know that Francky5591 & goncin are now super cucu-adminz with super cucu-powerz. Not one (1), not two (2), but three (3) danish brutes now...

By the way, for those who don't understand the story of the "danish brute", it all started by a post of Francky on the "not cucumis but.." very long topic...

First time I saw the Danish brute, we were having a meeting between us (experts and admins, but there were also some assiduous members and translators)

JP brought "D.B." back with him from København where he spent some holidays on late August/early September 2007. Actually JP had asked me to check how experts and admins were behaving while he was off work, as (these are his own words) he could feel "some uprising wind blowing into cucumis forums"...

Actually, some experts and admins, whose name I'll keep secret for obvious matters , were doing nothing, well, not exactly nothing, but the translation in terms of productivity was dangerously decreasing, see what I mean?

So after the report I sent to JP, he decided to find someone who'd boost the productivity once back in France, and he met this guy, who accepted to leave Denmark for a while and help to throttle the rebellion.

Well, here's the whole story...nothing but the truth, I swear

And here's some pic from JP himself
that was taken in København, end of summer 2007...
so that now you know what your guru looks like
(told you I was gonna reveal the whole story, jp!)

Hehehe Great true story Francisco!
I should be blamed for the increasing of messages in this thread... haha.

Congratulations to cucumis, we all know how it's improving as years pass by, and as María said: I'm ho happy because I'm a part of this lovely, pretty, beautiful, wonderful community! It was a high jump to my passion for languages be more than just watching movies without subtitles, it's now my job here and outside cucumis. Je t'aime!

Cucumis isn't just a "online translation service" it's much much mooooooore than that!

Well, as you can see this is just the begining... Can you imagine how many visits we will have in february 16th 2018?

I would not say that we were exactly doing nothing - we were engaged in a very important discussion of the actual name of the " " and other fruits and vegetables!

Hey, as I told in the news, the new server might cause some troubles with emails. For example, Irini is not receiveing anymore email notifications. Don't forget to check your spam folder from time to time. If you see an email from cucumis in the spam folder, that will help if you remove the "spam" flag.

Sorry for teasing, kaf! All the people who posted in this "not cucumis but" thread are actually very active members! I can't get back and have a look to this thread without having a thought for our beloved Porfyhr, who did a lot in a so short time... May he rest in peace.

Hm...this thought "popped up" by reading Franks message above ...
Why don't we reward people while they still are around, living and working here? Some sort of reward, notice from Cucumis just to make s/he understand that s/he are a much-appreciated member, for their good work, good ideas, good friendship, always around or ...whatever. There are many people I can think of that are good "candidates" for this title...

Maybe just a bit stupid thought and hard to implement, but I write it here anyway!

No need to apologize, Francky - it was all in good fun.

Nice idea, Pia, maybe what we need to do is just remember to thank each other lots and often for the work we do, so thank you, you hard-working gang!!!
